The Bridge Center is more than a building—it’s a vision brought to life by the people of Pelican Rapids. We’re a vibrant hub where young people, families, and neighbors of all ages come together to feel seen, supported, and empowered. Whether you're here to lead, learn, cook, create, or connect, this is your space.

Our mission is to build bridges—between generations, cultures, ideas, and opportunities—so that every person has a chance to thrive and every voice has a place at the table.

A Legacy of Service

In 1882, the Congregational Church of Pelican Rapids was established—its brick building was erected just a year later. For nearly 150 years, this space nurtured connection, worship, and community service. That legacy lives on today, not just in bricks and mortar, but in purpose.

Our Story: Where It All Began

In 2022, two powerful ideas emerged:

  • A Friendship Kitchen Feasibility Study proposed a community commercial kitchen to support food entrepreneurs and celebrate culture through shared meals.

  • A group of Pelican Rapids High School students, now known as The Youths, called for a youth center—a space to gather, create, and grow.

What started as two separate dreams quickly intertwined into one powerful vision: a place for people to belong, build, and be heard.

  • A Historic Gift

    In December 2023, the former Congregational Church made a remarkable gesture—donating its historic building and property to support the dream. This act bridged the past to the future, offering not just space, but a mission-driven home for generations to come.

    Support from Faith Lutheran Church

    Throughout 2024, Faith Lutheran Church graciously stepped up as our fiscal host, helping us build organizational strength and momentum as we pursued independent nonprofit status.

    • December 2024: We became an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

    • January 2025: We adopted the name The Bridge Center, a reflection of our mission to unite people, expand opportunity, and strengthen community.

  • We are currently in our buildout phase, transforming the donated building into a warm, welcoming space that houses:

    • Youth Programs led by and for young people

    • The Friendship Kitchen, a licensed community kitchen for entrepreneurs and gatherings

    • A Community Gathering & Event Space open to all

    • A Family Resource Center connecting families to trusted, culturally aware support
